Southern Sweden
23 May 2014
We were up at 4am although the sun had been up longer, to catch our flight back to Copenhagen. The good weather followed us.

Picked up the truck and crossed the Orasund Tunnel/Bridge from Copenhagen to Malmo in Sweden. We drove along the southern coast to Smygehamn, a pretty little coastal village which happened to be the southernmost point of the Scandinavian Peninsula. All very clean, neat and tidy with excellent cycle paths and a small harbour.

24 May
Off to Ystad where Henning Mankell had set a series of crime thrillers. We wandered through the quaint town centre and then drove on to Bosjkloster slott for lunch.
Bosjokloster slott was once a monastry, then castle. It is now owned privately.
We chose a freecamp in a forest and we were surprised to see a juvenile elk grazing nearby late in the evening.

25, 26 May
Next stop was Gothenburg which is quiet on a Sunday. We arrived at the gardens around midday but it was another half hour before the locals started arriving. These long days certainly change the way they live. We passed a small aname parade on the way to the art museum.
Time for a day off. Fine weather to dry washing and some truck maintenance.

27 May
We left our seaside campground and headed via Lacko Slott towards Sjotorp where the Gota Canal starts/finishes.
28 May
The bikes are ready and so we set off up the Gota Canal in beautiful weather. We rose about 50 m and covered about 40 kms with a headwind on the way back. It was a very pleasant change to sitting in the truck.
